It has been a while since our little trip to Paris. But we are already preparing for our summer vacation. By the end of August, Sammen is going to Bodrum, in Turkey. And me, well I will just go wherever the wind will take me.

I have to admit that I get a nostalgic feeling when I think about Paris. I have always loved Paris, The Parisian dream and the things that you read and hear from others about this beautiful city. ‘Paris: The city of love, the city of fashion and the city of fine cuisine’. I have been to Paris before and I don’t like to say this, but each it disappointed me. Somehow the city didn’t feel that romantic to me.

Since our trip in Paris was planned for a day, I was really looking forward to a sunny Paris. And this might be the trip that would not let me down. But unfortunately the rain ruined pretty much everything. You can understand that it isn’t a very pleasant feeling when you’re walking around in wet sneakers. I must admit it did turn me into a grumpy Melisa. But as soon as I saw the Eifel Tower (and I don’t want to sound cliché) my eyes were filled with stars. Oh, it was a magical moment for sure. The rain, the grey clouds and the beautiful Eifel tower staring back at me. At that moment I couldn’t care any less about my wet sneakers. I was just enjoying the perfect moment!

  1. Have no regret: I just stayed two months in Paris (July-August). Rained almost all the time.
Now, as a frenchman, I have to agree with you: I don’t know why Paris has been labelled “romantic”. It’s not. It is just beautiful. Slightly different. (Even in the rain!) :)
    Take care

  2. Paris is a lovely place when the sun shines and it is warm.
Sitting on the stairs in front of the Sacré-Cœur.
    Walking along the Seine.
Or just walking through all the streets.
You really should go on a sunny day in the summer.
